ABSTRACT
Chikungunya fever is an infectious disease with extensive attack rates and short periods of time, caused by a mosquito-borne Alphavirus and gender Aedes, which represents a new challenge for public health in Mexico and the Americas. Indigenous transmission (mosquito-human-mosquito) virus was first detected in the region of the Americas in December 2013, reporting 786 cases confirmed on January 25, 2014, from then until the epidemiological week 26 of the same year there are 180,972 suspected cases, 4,841 confirmed cases and 21 deaths, also; on June 26, 2014 is reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the State of Jalisco, the first confirmed case of Chikungunya virus in the Metropolitan Area of Jalisco, in a 38 year old woman infected during a trip he made the Caribean. Knowledge in the pathogenesis and disease management are an effective tool to provide accurate and timely diagnosis, which will help in minimizing the introduction and spread of the virus. This paper provides a comprehensive review of information on current and international virus genomic features, geographical distribution, mode of transmission and the vectors used for global spread is. Moreover, the similarity with the Dengue virus by its similarity phylogenetic analyzes, in addition to exposing the impact, relevance and vulnerability faced by Mexico to this new epidemic. A review of these contributions includes the topics of basic and applied research highlights for the immediate future.REFERENCES
