ABSTRACT
Objective: Describes perceptions relatives of patients with severe and persistent mental disorder about use antipsychotic long-acting injections (AILD), also described the infl uence of socio-demographic variables in the perception of AILD use in patients with severe and persistent mental disorder. Methods: A survey was applied to a hundred family members of individuals with severe and persistent mental disorder, in the Long Stay CAISAME, the same was collected with a tool made on purpose, once obtained the survey, proceeded to combine a database and given treatment statistical. Results: Hundred families were evaluated, 66% female and 34% male. Th e perception during the acute phase of the disease was; 71% considered the most appropriate injection and 72% of the families prefer long-acting injectable for long-term management of their relatives. Conclusion: Th e study shows that nearly half of the families unknow the AILD before the interview. We can infer that psychiatrists do not prescribe it as fi rst choice and perhaps relegate chronic patients with multiple readmissions and diffi cult to control.REFERENCES
