ABSTRACT
Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is a suffering of fast evolution that initiates in paranasal sinus and/or palate with retro-orbital invasion. The potential morbidity and mortality of rhinocerebral mucormycosis are related to invasion of adjacent structures, like orbit, cavernous sine and brain. Another variant exists, known as chronic or indolent mucormycosis, characterized by the presence of symptoms by more of a month before diagnosis. It has been reported in diabetic patients without ketoacidosis as requisite. The tendency to remain limited and little aggressive is characteristic. The nasal symptoms subtle and are directed to common sinusal process. When orbit is affected, disease can even remain located during weeks.
