ABSTRACT
Introduction: The staging of lung cancer is important because it defines the treatment and prognosis of the patient. For staging, the most important items of the last tumor classification, lymph nodes and metastases must be considered, which are obtained through computed tomography of the thorax. Objective: To develop a prototype radiological report of computed tomography of the chest in patients with lung cancer. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional, development research was carried out, for being this the case of a radiological report prototype by computerized axial tomography of the thorax, emphasizing the factors the tumor, ganglia and metastasis that determine the stage of the patient with lung cancer. The context of the investigation was carried out on 96 patients who attended the imaging service of Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital during the period from 2014 to 2015. All patients underwent thorax computerized axial tomography that included the upper abdomen, and the radiological report was subsequently elaborated applying the report prototype created, with a time interface, and assessing inter-evaluator agreement. In the statistical analysis, we used percentages, the intraclass correlation coefficient, and the Kappa coefficient. Results: According to the Moriyama criteria of the created model, 100% defined an excellent content validity. The inter-observer agreement for the different dimensions and aspects of the new report was very good. Conclusions: The new thorax computerized tomography report is considered valid and reliable for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer.
