ABSTRACT
Medical studies in Villa Clara began given the necessity to increase the number of health professionals with a better distribution and public dedication that it compensated quantitative and qualitatively the massive exodus that happened in the first years of the Cuban Revolution. This revision has as objective to characterize the historical development of the medical teaching in this county in its first 50 years. Six bibliographical references were used. Medical education in Villa Clara has responded to the historical, social and academic changes of the country. In all its stages their advances are perceived, summed up in the progressive number of graduate, their achievements and the adjustment to the emanated transformations of their university processes.
