ABSTRACT
Clinical manifestations in secondary syphilis are cutaneous, mucosal and systemic lesions. There are varied clinical presentations of the disease among them maculopapular, follicular, nodular and papular-scaled lesions. This was a 51 year-old white, female, housewife, postmenopausal patient who attended the dentist´s office complaining of a burning sensation on the oral cavity and malaise that got better with symptomatic treatment, but there were still botherings. On the physical examination erythematic, papular and irregular lesions were seen at the upper alveolar edge of the mucosa, hard and soft palates and left border of the lip as well as cutaneous lesions on hands and feet. Blood tests and cytology were ordered to confirm the diagnosis, which finally was secondary syphilis. The treatment on this case followed the dermatology program and the lesions disappeared in few weeks.
