Association between gestational diabetes and oral health in pregnant

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Buccal affections constitute an important health problem, mainly in patients that can be considered specials by their characteristics. Objective: To determine the association of the gestational diabetes and oral health in pregnant of the municipality Bayamo during the year 2014. Materials and Methods: An observational analytic of cases and controls investigation was performed. The sample was of 150 patients captured in the fourth trimester of the year 2013. The following variables were studied: gestational diabetes, weeks of gestation, pregnant with dental cavity, highest cavities, with indicated extractions, periodontal diseases, injure of the oral mucous and integral classification of the oral health. Results: The gestational age prevailed between 30 and 32 weeks (67.33). Most of the pregnant ones had the buccal affected health (73.33%). The groups of studies were characterized by the high morbility related with the dental cavity (98.00%), although he/she was related with a great severity of this entity, before the frequency and significant association between the diabetes mellitus gestational and the oral health, in the face of the highest cavities prevalence (OR =2.96), the presence of teeth to extract (OR =3.93), periodontal illness (OR =3.76) and injure of the mucous one oral (OR =14.42). Conclusions: The gestational diabetes mellitus is related with the oral health.
