Cardiac septation defects and neonatal mortality

ABSTRACT
A descriptive and longitudinal study was done of 49 infants who died from congenital heart disease in the Neonatology Service of Hospital “Dr. Agostinho Neto "Guantanamo from 2006 to 2014. From the segmental analysis of the heart and great vessels was concluded that congenital malformations were the third main cause of death in this service, with prevalence of congenital heart disease. Embryological structures are most affected defects of the proximal portion of the cone frustum and the septum secundum. The most common congenital heart disease is the Tetralogy of Fallot.
