ABSTRACT
Objective: To know the attitudes of Twitter© users who approved the social movement “March for Family” in Mexico. Material and methods: An interpretative study was performed, based on virtual ethnography and attribution and balance theory of Heider. Content analysis strategies were applied to tweets issued September 5 to 17 of 2016. The intensity of the attitude of the users towards the actors perceived in the march was calculated through of the identification and valuation (values between 3 to -3) of nouns, adjectives and verbs. A secondary analysis was carried out to complement the first, this consisted in the formation of categories of first, second and third order through a process of codification and systematization of codes by subject. Results: We analyzed 715 texts written by Twitter© users in eight Latin American countries. Six actors to the social movement were identified: 1) Progay activists 2) Government, 3) Media, 4) Society, 5) Non-heterosexual individuals, and 6) Promoters of the traditional family. Pro-gay activist and the government were mostly rejected. Is was identified that the symbolization of marriage as divine inheritance and non-heterosexuality as unnatural sexual practice were the main motivations for identified attitudes. Conclusions: The results show current knowledge about the social tensions experienced by Mexicans in the face of possible changes in civil law.REFERENCES
