ABSTRACT
What are the forms of masculinity, femininity or other transgender variants that transsexual people project during the process of the construction of gender identity in present-day Cuban society? To answer this question, the Qualitative Methodology was used, and the obtained results came from a long bibliographical research and the application of a semi-structured interview to 20 transsexual subjects in Cuba. Firstly, the behavior of these subjects in the family, work and community environments was known, and this information was then complemented with their ideas about gender identity. Finally, the forms these persons use to express their gender identities in relation to the historical forms of masculinity, femininity or other transgender variants were defined.
