ABSTRACT
Discriminatory attitudes based on sexual orientation and gender identity have placed lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals and intersexual people under diverse situations of social vulnerability. Interrelated with other social inequality agents such as skin color, age, disabilities, geographical area, socio-economic status, and ideology, this situation represents a marginalized scenario in the social framework. Despite this reality, there is an insufficient theoretical-methodological insight into this topic, thus the need of this study. This paper aims to provide an overview of the structure of social vulnerability situations for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals and intersexual people, based on stigmatization processes construed by heteronormativity. It classifies as a qualitative research, using the contents analysis technique. The examples show the existence of a sexuality mechanism that strengthens the possibility of risks and vulnerability to sexual-diversity people. This not only weakens the development and enjoyment of sexuality under equal and dignified conditions, but also the satisfaction of life quality and social well-being.
