Training young people in the exercise of a developing parenting. A group experience with psychology students

ABSTRACT
Introduction. Nowadays, one of the limitations of teaching in our country is the systematical, coherent and systemic non-inclusion of essential contents to provide a comprehensive personality education, the development of full and responsible sexualities, the settlement of equitable and enriching inter- and intra-generic relationships, as well as the exercise of a developing parenting. Objective. Contribute to developing sexuality and its education in freshmen from the Faculty of Psychology, University of Havana. Methodology. An optative discipline was designed and implemented during 2015-2016. Group work was supported by an Alternative and Participative Methodology, and the pedagogy of Diversity and Equity, and the Critical Humanistic Approach. The group was composed of 26 students (22 females and 4 males representing 29.8% of all the students) that attended 24 activities of the program. Results. The early diagnostics confirmed the need to focus especially on parent-child relations, by noticing the existence of problems in these bonds affecting the development and wellbeing of this young people. Conclusions. By elaborating pedagogical conditions with young people, a critical analysis of personal bonding experiences and the identification of possible opposing strategies in order to overcome their current difficulties were provided, as well as the adoption of equitable and enriching ways in the exercise of parenting.
