ABSTRACT
Introduction. The perspective of working with groups of men has rapidly expanded since its emergence in the international arena due to its potential for convoking men in topics such as gender, violence, paternity and sexual and reproductive health. Objective. Analyze the importance of working with groups of men as a premise to enhance social participation as a quality of community action in Cuba. Methodology. A qualitative approach based on a content analysis of the bibliographic references reviewed was used. Results. Although the work with groups of men has internationally shown its potential to mobilize them for the transformation of everyday life in relation to gender, it has not been used in the same way in Cuba. Conclusions. The main challenge for Cuba is to visualize that the social participation of men is necessary not only for women, but to achieve a more just social system for all people.
