ABSTRACT
The treatment of child sexual abuse in the Girls, Boys and Teenagers Protection Center in Cuba, children and young people enjoy a special protection provided by the State and the society, which have the duty to devote special attention to the comprehensive development of children and youth. As part of this system, the Ministry of the Interior has specialized bodies that provide protection to the victims. Specifically, the Girls, Boys and Teenagers Protection Center, that belongs to the Minors Division, focuses mainly on reducing secondary victimization suffered by children that have been victims of violent crimes. The objective of this article is to summarize how this institution provides an ethical, appropriate and efficient treatment to children and teenagers that have been victims of sexual abuse, among other forms of abuse. It starts with a reflection on the importance of the topic of violence against children and mainly the sexual one, as well as the relevance involving the secondary victimization and the prevailing demand of confronting it. The main premises related to the tasks carried out by the specialists of this Protection Center, and the description of the established procedures guaranteeing the prevention of secondary victimization, are developed by the authors. The relevance of this Center to the support of a consistent, ethical and protective treatment to children and teenagers victims of violent crimes, is discussed.
