ABSTRACT
Homosexual fathers—An approach according to the theory of masculinities The concepts of masculinity and paternity in Cuba are undergoing a process of transformation that results in a deconstruction of the patterns established by the patriarchal system. This new approach has led to the inclusion of new actors in the exercise of paternity. Aims. The research aims to describe the practices of paternity that assume homosexual men who have had children, according to the type of masculinity they practice. Method. The study is essentially qualitative. In-depth interview was applied to homosexual men who have children. Results. Among the most relevant results, the influence in Cuban society of the traditional patterns supported by the patriarchal system, which develop masculinity and the exercise of fatherhood, is remarkable. At the same time, it is recognizable a masculinity that tries to deconstruct the traditional models, in order to play a paternal role that goes beyond the imposed respect, the economic sustenance, and the absence of affects.
