ABSTRACT
Hansen's disease is a chronic inflammatory infectious disease that damages the skin, nerves and other internal organs (testicles, li- ver, etc.) caused by the Mycobacterium leprae complex. Clinical presentation occurs with a broad spectrum symptoms, including hypopigmented anesthetic patches, elevated erythematous plaques, nodules and thickening of peripheral nerves showing sensitivity. The most important complication is disability and deformity. The diagnosis of leprosy is often delayed due to its similarity with other more common skin conditions that prevail in some non-endemic areas. We present a case of a female, who is diagnosed with Hansen's disease, after 7 years of being treated for other pathologies such as anemia, pemphigus and peripheral polyp neuropathy, among others.REFERENCES
