Using the platform Cobs Biofeedback in rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the Cobs Biofeedback platform is an information and training response team that can be used in the early diagnosis, prophylactic evaluation and rehabilitation of balance disorders; it provides in the form of graphics and in real time a response on the movements of the body. The problems of balance in the child with cerebral palsy are very frequent, which in many occasions conspires with the gain of development patterns according to their age. Objective: to determine the utility of the Cobs Biofeedback platform in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of balance disorders in children with cerebral palsy in the Pediatric Rehabilitation service of the National Reference Center for Rehabilitation, Julio Díaz Hospital during the period January to June 2015. Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional study that included 11 children with spastic cerebral palsy admitted to the Pediatric Rehabilitation service of Julio Díaz Hospital. Results: 100% of the studied subjects showed alterations in some of the measured parameters, the variables most affected were the load and the symmetry index. Conclusions: the high sensitivity of the Cobs Biofeedback platform was demonstrated as an instrument for the diagnosis of balance disorders in children with spastic cerebral palsy and its effectiveness in training them within a comprehensive rehabilitation program.
