ABSTRACT
The objective of the research was to determine the health conditions of workers' safety and hygiene to implement short-term strategies that demonstrate their effectiveness in occupational health in a wood board company in Chihuahua, Mexico. For this purpose, chapters IV and VI of the PROVERIFICA Model were used for diagnosis and several health programs were developed to improve the working conditions to perform another measurement after the execution of those programs. These programs were based on the review of existing programs of hearing preservation, respiratory protection, implementation of periodic medical examinations, updating standardization of medical records and examinations. In the company's diagnosis on occupational health, in the section of safety and hygiene the percentage of efficiency were 37.76% and 45.89%, after the intervention the percentages of efficiency increased to 72.64% and 83.56 %, respectively. The workers achieved a significant reduction in health problems reducing medical consultations due to labor problems and manage to eliminate the days lost due to accidents at work. These results allow us to conclude that the implementation of occupational health programs shows benefits for both employees and companies.
