ABSTRACT
Introduction: The jaw is a bone closely related with the activity of the masticating muscles. Its location in the inferior segment of the facial masses and its mobility make it especially susceptible of trauma. These are outstanding elements in their anatomy, the body, upward branches, dental structures, lower dental conduct, and the condyle.
Material and methods: In the present article, we analyze the normal anatomic and embryonic characteristics and their aspect in the imagery studies, as well as the dental origin cystic pathologic processes.
Conclusions: En general terms, the radiology doctor does not have frequent contact with the pathology in this area and doctors treating this will frequently trust the interpretation of the radiological diagnosis. We consider it adequate to teach the basic principles in the general radiological services, which constitute an attempt to “rescue” part of our work field.
