ABSTRACT
We offer a brief but updated review on the subject of preventive cardiology taking advantage of the strengths of the National Health System of Cuba and the opportunities offered by working in cardiovascular prevention from the workplace scenarios considering that cardiovascular diseases, especially ischemic heart disease the first cause of mortality in the country, also takes into account current working conditions where technological development, new organizational forms of work and some dangerous processes contribute to a change in labor morbidity and increased risk factors cardiovascular diseases. It is concluded that the development of preventive cardiology within the workers' care subsystem constitutes a challenge and a great responsibility for the actors in this field, while at the same time becoming a strengthens the possibility of being close to the working population and having a model of adequate health care favoring healthy and productive work environments.
