ABSTRACT
An analytical observational study of case and control type was performed in patients with early in-hospital pneumonia, who were admitted with the diagnosis of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage in the intermediate therapy service of the Carlos M. de Céspedes general university hospital of Bayamo, from January 1 until December 31, 2013, with the objective of identifying the risk factors of early in-hospital pneumonia in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. 42 cases and 84 controls were selected. The binary logistic regression showed that disability at admission (OR = 67,814, p = 0.000); the level of consciousness (OR = 34.577, p = 0.000); COPD (OR = 7.283, p = 0.048) and smoking habit (OR = 4.381; p = 0.010) constituted independent influencing factors, with which the risk of illness of these patients can be estimated, the other variables did not have relationship with the risk of infection. It is concluded that with the values of the binary logistic regression model for risk factors of early in-hospital pneumonia in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage, the risk of becoming ill can be estimated.REFERENCES
