ABSTRACT

A quasi-experimental, case-control, longitudinal and prospective study was conducted in Cauto Cristo municipality, East popular council Cauto Cristo, during 2016, with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment in hypertensive patients. The study population was represented by 130 and it shows the 100 patients diagnosed as hypertensive in this area, selected by simple random method. In the study group for the treatment, long-term dermal needles Ho 2, 5 CUM of long length previously sterilized with autoclave were used, the selected points were C7, H1 or R3. Patients in the control group received the standardized medication treatment at the usual dose and always orally. The study group presented better results by decreasing the blood pressure numbers more effectively and in less time than the control group, it was determined that the number of acupuncture sections for the positive evaluation was 10 sections.
