ABSTRACT
A comparison of laparoscopic cholecystectomy versus conventional cholecystectomy with the objective of comparing costs, morbidity and mortality between the two declared procedures, level I of evidence studies were taken as reference. It was performed a bibliographic search in medical databases on acute cholecystitis with level I of evidence, there were included results of complications, costs and mortality as comparison indexes between the procedures in acute cholecystectomy through a lineal logistic regression model and it was defined the level of statistical significance 95 %. It was verified that although direct costs could be higher in laparoscopic cholecystectomy, total costs are higher in conventional cholecystectomy including more complications possibilities and mortality. It was concluded that laparoscopic surgery brings economic and health benefits in relation with conventional surgery in cases of acute cholecystitis.REFERENCES
