ABSTRACT
Studies on perinatal mortality indicate that this is a phenomenon of great interest in the world given the difficulty in achieving its reduction. In Cuba, perinatal mortality continues to be a priority problem, a situation that is reflected with special characteristics in Granma, whose solution makes it necessary to go deeply into all aspects since, although from the biological point of view it is an indicator of the state of the mother and the fetus or neonate, social and demographic factors affect it. The study aims to identify the perceptions of mothers in relation to the care received during the occurrence of perinatal death that affected them. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in Granma province in 2015, collecting the information through in-depth interviews with women who had a perinatal death in the first 3 months of the year, which were also 3 months before the interview. The in-depth interviews, together with the available information on perinatal deaths in the province and the available bibliography, allowed the triangulation of the information. The interviews indicate difficulties in the communication between the health personnel and the woman who suffers a perinatal death, the lack of information about problems that are relevant for them and the causes that have led to the event happening. It reflects the perception of lack of adequate communication, expressed in various ways.
