Cases of Malaria in Guinea Equatorial Republic

ABSTRACT
Introduction: ending 2015, 214 million people were affected by malaria all over the world, most of them were in sub-Saharan Africa. The adequate management reduces its incidence and mortality and it contributes to preventits transmission.Objectives: to characterize patients with malaria assisted in Guadalupe Policlinic in Mongomo, Guinea Equatorial Republic.
Method: a descriptive, transversal study was performed with 232 patients admitted because of malaria from July, 2014 to June, 2015, at Virgen de Guadalupe Clinic, Mongomo, Guinea Equatorial Republic.
Results: the mean age was of 37,51years old, most of them were men, expatriates, con with classical clinical picture and small proportion of complications. P falciparum was the predominant specie, with low parasystemic. There was statistical significance between the foreign nationality and the patients, the highest concentration of parasites in blood,the severity of the clinical picture and the presence of complications. The used therapeutic complication of derivate of Artemis in was very efficient. The qualitative method was used to inform the results of the thick film.
Conclusions: the clinical, , microbiologic and therapeutic characteristics were evaluated in patients wih malaria in Guadalupe Policlinic in Mongomo, Guinea Equatorial Republic significant relation was established between foreign nationality and higher concentration of parasites in blood, severity of the clinical picture and presence of complications. The qualitative method prevailed to inform the results of the thick film. A good result was obtained in the evolution, by an early diagnosis, an adequate management and the use of combinations with derivate of Artemisin.
