ABSTRACT
Introduction. The lung tuberculosis approach from the perspective of social determination and access to health services is useful to reorient social policies and to mobilize resources in order to reduce inequalities and eliminating tuberculosis as a health problem. Objective. To describe the social inequalities and access to health services in pulmonary tuberculosis and its contextualization in Havana. Method. A bibliographic review of the literature was carried out using the Big 6 model as an information management model in terms of the topics: pulmonary tuberculosis, inequalities, access, health services. Results The background and development in the approach of social inequalities in the national and international context and social policies and social structure in Cuba are presented as measures adopted for the eradication of inequalities. We describe the perspectives of access to health services and the socioeconomic context of tuberculosis patients in Havana in 2012. Conclusions. Changes in social policies and the social structure and reforms in the health sector in Cuba are elements that determine the behavior of pulmonary tuberculosis in Havana. The use of the social economic context in the analysis of pulmonary tuberculosis in the province of Havana identified social strata that transcend the political-administrative limits where population groups with a more disadvantaged social structure reside with unfavorable living conditions and a higher prevalence of tuberculosis.
