ABSTRACT
Solitary plasmacytoma is characterized by an accumulation of neoplastic monoclonal plasma cells. It can be classified into two groups according to its location: solitary skeletal plasmacytoma or osseous and extramedullary plasmacytoma. Both are malignant neoplasms originated from B cells (B lymphocytes and plasma cells). A 54-year-old white male patient with orbital involvement who had a tumor that began with unilateral exophthalmos and serosanguinolent rhinorrhea. A first diagnosis of maxillary sinusitis led to the drainage of the sinus that turned out to be a neoplasm of plasma cells. As drainage of the tumor contents of the maxillary sinus had been performed by surgery, treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy was completed, with a complete response.
