Diagnosis of the evaluation process of didactic competence of dentistry professors

ABSTRACT
Background: the nowadays process of evaluation of didactic competence in medical education requires an improvement. Objective: to characterize the evaluation process of the didactic competence of dentistry professors. Methodology: A descriptive study was carried out form 2015 to 2016 at Sancti Spiritus medical university. The population was composed by 3 executives and 65 professors belonging to the dentistry university studies. Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used. Results: Observation of activities showed that low level of the scale used was the most relevant. It was verified insufficient evidence of specific pronouncements in the documents related to the process of evaluation of didactic competence on the part of professors, dispositions and recommendations were expressed in extremely general terms. Executives showed limitations in their preparation to develop this project and it was also found that 49, 23 % of professors have not defined the elements to be taken into account in it. Conclusion: The evaluation process of didactic competence of dentistry professors in Sancti Spiritus has limitations which are far from the systemic, systematic, objective and formative character it should have.
