ABSTRACT
This comparative descriptive study of transverse section, characterized the
neuropsychological performance of 80 men held in a medium-security prison,
convicted of homicide (manslaughter 40 and 40 aggravated murder). Aged 18-55 years
(X = 33.75 SD = 7.6). Brief Neuropsychological Battery (NEUROPSI), giving an overall
measure of cognitive activity was used. The results were analyzed using non-parametric
tests (Mann-Whitney U and Chi2), least significant differences in the performance of
the two groups were observed; the group of aggravated murder remained below the
group of manslaughter; relationship between low neuropsychological performance
and homicidal behavior including damages in higher cognitive functions, especially in
executive functions was found.
