ABSTRACT
This is a review of the history of the simulators used in medicine It starts with the creation of the Link Trainer in 1929 for pilots in training. During World War II a great impulse was given to the simulators for this purpose. Ever since the third century BC reports about the use of melons to learn the application of bandages and to improve surgical skills exist. In Paris, in the eighteenth century, an obstetric manikin was developed. In the Middle Ages, the use of animals to improve surgical skills is documented, and it is an activity that is still employed. Resusci Anne, SimOne, Standford CASE, PAT Sim, SOPHUS are some of the names of the simulators developed later. In Mexico, the National Nutrition Institute “Salvador Zubirán” created the Center for the Development of Medical Skills (CEDDEM) in 2003 and in 2005, the School of Medicine of UNAM created the Center for Teaching and Certification of Medical Skills (CECAM).REFERENCES
