ABSTRACT
Following the target-paper by Pardos, “The images in
thought”, published in this issue of
Revista Mexicana de Investigación
en Psicología (2017), we addressed the importance
of mental images in thinking. We started defining the types of
mental images and kinds of thoughts that exist. We discussed
some of the studies researching the relationship between
mental imagery and thought. The conclusions of our review
are that seems to be enough evidence showing a relationship.
However, many studies deny such relationship. We believe
further studies are required, being more specific about
what types of mental image intervenes in thought, and what
kind of thinking involves mental images.
