ABSTRACT
Objective: The objective of this study was to describe
the prevalence of ambient factors, and antigenspecific
subcutaneous test. And evaluate the impact
of immunotherapy after 2 years of treatment.
Material and methods: An observational, analytic,
retrospective study. Which analyzed patients with
asthma and/or allergic rhinitis diagnose, with
subcutaneous antigen-specific and positive IgE blood
test, we included patients from the pediatric and
otorhinolaryngology consult from the municipal
health service of Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, Jalisco on
the period 2012-2014. We use the
Pediatric Asthma
Quality of Life Questionnaire (PAQLQ) to compare
the pre and post therapy test.
Outcome: The 90.09%
of Tlajomulco de Zuñiga are conform by non-urban
ground. Mites, oak and cedar conform 79.16% of
positive antigen-specific subcutaneous test. We
observed on the pre-test mean activity limitation
score was significantly higher than that the post-test
1.8 (p ‹0.00), on symptoms score the mean difference
was 1.9 (p ‹0.000), on emotional score the difference
was 1.7 (p 0.000) and global score a difference of
1.8 (p‹0.00).
Conclusions: There is a significant
association between improvement in quality of life
after two years of treatment with immunotherapy
in patients from 5 to 17 years with asthma and/or
rhinitis diagnosis, in Tlajomulco de Zuñiga.
