ABSTRACT
Introduction: Cultural Consumption, Leisure and Media, CCLM, are recognized as a set of activities that develop the human being in a comprehensive way; this is driven from activities in time unrelated to work activity. Th e CCTLM measurement in a context results relevant, and more when this encourage the exploration of the multiplicity of activities undertaken by the students in their time and space because it is precisely there, where people access to a range of recreational practices, cultural and leisure activities that contribute to build the society in which we live. Objective: To measure the prevalence of cultural consumption, leisure and media students of health sciences at two universities in Latin America. Material and Methods: A comparative study in 946 freshmen racing Health University Center on Health Sciences at the University of Guadalajara and the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. Th e variables of CCTLM; composed of indicators culture, use of leisure time and use of electronic media. Measured by an instrument with 46 questions and an index of 0.82 reliability. Results: Th e prevalence of the Global Assessment of Cultural Consumption, the Leisure and Media; integrated weighting process indicators related to culture, leisure and electronic media such as the Internet; shows that 20.5% and 13.8% (125 and 46) have a score Alto (+ 350) a possible theoretical value of 650 for the University of Guadalajara and University of Guatemala respectively.REFERENCES
