ABSTRACT
Introduction: The occupational risk factors are the chemical substances, objects, energy form or characteristic of organization of the work that can cause an accident or damage to the health. The chemical substances are toxic in some degree; the risk to the health is a coalition of the severity of the toxicity and the magnitude of the exposure. Objectives: To identify the chemical risk factors in the factory of cylinders "Noel Fernández" of Matanzas , during 2015. Material and method: An observational and descriptive study was executed. The universe was constituted by all the workers of the factory and we had their informed consent. We worked with the exposure degree, the chemical pollutants, the proper biomarkers and the use of the protection means. The information was obtained by mean of an interview and the occupational clinical history. In the statistical analysis absolute and relative frequencies were used presenting the results in charts and graphics. Results: All the workers were dispensarized, it prevailed the masculine sex and the group II. The welders and the machine operators of cutting and/or conforming metals represent 32,5 % and 30,1 % of the exposed workers, respectively. The dusts, vapors, metallic fumes, gases and lead constituted the main chemical pollutants. The exposed workers use the protection means and they fulfill the medical checkup. Conclusions: The protection and promotion of the worker's health to prevent and to control the occupational illnesses, to eliminate the occupational risks and to maintain the worker's security, are pillars in the occupational health.REFERENCES
