Conceptual reflection about some theories of nursing and their validity in the Cuban practice

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Nursing is the science in charge of caring for the family, the individual and the community. Objective: Systematize conceptual reflections about some nursing theories and their validity in the Cuban practice. Method: Systematic bibliography review by means of scientific literature search in the databases PubMed, Science Direct, Ovid Nursing, CINAHL and Cochrane Central between the years 2004 and 2014 in both English and Spanish. 1183 articles were found, out of which 24 fulfilled the inclusion criteria for the reflexive analysis about the current validity of some nursing theories in the Cuban practice. Conclusions: Nursing presents a body of knowledge formed by a series of theories and conceptual models, enriches by means of research, which provides the science with a scientific method that is the Nursing Caring Process and care in its broadest dimensions as an object of study.
