ABSTRACT
Introduction: Tumors of the parapharyngeal space are rare, accounting for less than 1% of head and neck neoplasms, 40% of which originate in the salivary glands. The pleomorphic adenoma is the most frequent benign tumor of the salivary glands; Histologically, the myxoid and chondroid components are frequent in histological reports, although the ossification of this tumor is very rare and it is believed that endochondral ossification is the process by which ossification originates.
Clinical case: A 64-year-old male with a bulging left parotid region, the studies showed tumor of the calcified parapharyngeal space, underwent resection, the histopathological report showed a calcified pleomorphic adenoma. The literature report of this characteristic is limited. We report an unusual case of pleomorphic adenoma with extensive calcification that occurred in the parapharyngeal space.
