ABSTRACT
A 31-year-old white patient with health history who suffered a deep dermal burn of the 3 % of her body surface in the infraumbilical region is presented. Signs of local sepsis appeared on the fourth day of treatment with silver sulfadiazine; for this reason collection of secretions for culture was made by means of the swabbing method and local antibiotic therapy with nitrofurazone cream was applied. Diagnosis of sepsis was confirmed three days later; Cronobacter sakazakii, resistant to sulfametoxazol and cloramfenicol was isolated; since control of the infection was not achieved, the previous treatment was substituted by dermofural ointment where clinical signs and microbiological culture resulted negative 72 hours after the evolution. Treatment was kept until complete healing. No adverse effects were reported during therapy.
