Visual rehabilitation in the vitelliform dystrophy of the adult

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The vitelliform dystrophy of the adult is an autosomal dominant hereditary disease characterized by subfoveate, bilateral, symmetric, rounded or oval lesions slightly high of yellow color affecting the visual acuity.Clinical case: Patient diagnosed with this affection and treated in the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Clinical Surgical Hospital in the Ophthalmology service. A multidisciplinary staff composed by an ophthalmologist, an optometrist, a visual rehabilitator and a psychologist realized the evaluation and follow-up.
Conclusions: A visual stimulation was practiced using the microperimeter MP1 to improve the retinal sensitivity, the fixation and as a final result a better visual acuity and life quality.
