ABSTRACT
Introduction: Executive functions are a set of mental skills
that allow a self-regulating behavior and cognition student.
Objetive: To analyze the relationship between executive
functions and behavior of high school students.
Method: The sample consisted of 250 Ecuadorian students
between 12 and 18 years old. The measures were EFECO rating, and
behavior and academic performance of the school year 2015. The
data analysis were used Pearson correlation and one-way ANOVA.
Results: It was found that executive functions: Inhibitory control
(r = 0.15, p = 0.01), organization of material (r = 0.22, p = 0.01),
monitoring (r = 0.25, p = 0.01), initiative (r = 0.21, p = 0.01), working
memory (r = 0.21, p = 0.01), and planning (r = 0.24, p = 0, 01), they are
related to the behavior of high school students.
Conclusions: The results are discussed on the role of
executive functions in behavioral control and academic performance
of high school students from Ecuador.
