ABSTRACT
Health is priceless, although to recover or maintain it is necessary to incur high costs. Therefore, economics and health must be an inseparable binomial. It is emphasized that health economy not only deals with the economic analysis of costs and efficiency, but is also interested in the quality of its services, the benefits achieved, equity, quality of life and the degree of satisfaction of the population. Emphasis should be placed on an efficient allocation of limited resources, and the best patient care at the lowest possible cost. The application of economic evaluation methods is becoming increasingly necessary for decision making with the aim of increasing the efficiency and equity of health services.
