Dental caries in first permanent molars in schoolchildren aged 6-12 years

ABSTRACT
An investigation was carried out to identify the prevalence of dental caries in the first permanent molars in children of 6-12 years of age in the period 2013-2014, making a descriptive cross-sectional study. The universe consisted of 75 children from the José Martí Elementary School located in the Escondida de Monte Ruz, belonging to the municipality of El Salvador; which constituted the study sample. The data were obtained through the clinical examination, were recorded in tables of frequency distribution, using as a summary measure, number, index and percentage. The study showed a predominance of males and the 9-10 age group represented by 46.9 %. The COD-D index was 1.10, caries predominated in superficial dentin.
