ABSTRACT
Introduction: Adverse reactions to antiretrovirals have been reported with the use of all these drugs and are one of the conditions by which treatment regimens are changed and fewer adherences are observed. In the Pedro Kourí Institute, adverse reactions to antiretrovirals have been poorly characterized. Objectives: To characterize adverse reactions to antiretroviral drugs in HIV / AIDS patients. Method: Observational and transversal study of active pharmacovigilance focused on the drug. We analyzed 77 patients in the National Commission for antiretroviral treatment who had adverse reactions to antiretrovirals in the year 2015. The adverse reaction was considered the main variable. Results: Adverse reactions predominated in males (77.9%); the mean age of the patients was 39 years. The most commonly reported drug was zidovudine (27.3%). The most frequent adverse reactions were anemia (22.0%) and rash (15.6%). The most affected organ systems were hemolymphopoietic (23.4%) and skin (19.5%). Frequent adverse reactions occurred (64.9%) followed by rare (18.2%). The most frequent adverse reactions were reported (74.0%). CONCLUSIONS: The characteristics of adverse reactions to antiretrovirals correspond to those described for these drugs and constitute a problem for HIV / AIDS patients, physicians and health systems. The knowledge of these can favor their adequate control and management in the patient, in order to avoid an anticipated change in Antiretroviral Therapy.REFERENCES
