ABSTRACT
Introduction: left ventricular free wall rupture is a rare complication of acute myocardial infarction. Objective: to determine the risk factors for the cardiac rupture in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Results: the 60% of the patients were male. The mean age was 72 + 16 years old. The myocardial infarction of the anterior wall and the stay less than 24 hours were predominant. Thrombolysis was not performed in 65% of patients, or it was not effective. The 62% of patients presented KK IV.
Conclusions: creatinine kinase above 1200 units (OR 3.31), late arrival (OR 3.06) and presence of more than 7 affected leads on the electrocardiogram (OR 2.66) were presented as risk factors for cardiac rupture.
