Cryptococcal meningoencephalitis: a case report

ABSTRACT

Pharmacological development has led to design drugs that are increasingly effective to improve survival in the population of immunocompromised patients. Herein we present a case of a female patient with AIDS, who abandons the antiretroviral treatment and acquires cryptococcal meningoencephalitis. An analysis of signs of poor prognosis, which influenced the evolution of this case is presented. Diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities are also analyzed in these patients and the need to begin early treatment.
