ABSTRACT
Onychomycosis due to by non-dermatophyte molds have a
low frequency but they remain medically important because of
their challenge for diagnosis and treatment. With some exceptions,
as
Fusarium solani and
Neoscytalidium dimidiatum, the causal
agents are fungi that do not produce keratinases and, they depend
on other conditions to produce infection. Fusarium spp.,
Aspergillus spp.,
Scopulariopsis spp. and
Neoscytalidium dimidiatum
are non-dermatophyte fungi difficult to treat, despite the therapeutic
alternatives that are currently available.
