ABSTRACT

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a cutaneous inflammatory multifactorial disease caused by occlusion of the apocrine glands of the hair follicle. Characterized by inflammatory, deep and painful abscesses, which can be confluent to form subcutaneous junctions. Usually underdiagnosed since the clinic features can be related to other conditions, where the follicular occlusion is an important fact. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are mandatory for a most satisfactory outcome. Quality of life is usually affected.
