Complications in the management of mandibular angle fractures

ABSTRACT

In recent years the number of jaw fracture cases has increased. For this reason, a prospective, descriptive, longitudinal, observational and cohort study was performed with patients treated at the plastic and reconstructive surgery service of the «Dr. Rubén Leñero» General Hospital, in Mexico City, with a diagnosis of mandibular angle fracture, in order to analyze postoperative complications comparing intraoral and extraoral surgical approaches. The main complications were occlusive disorder and infectious process, concluding that the postoperative complications in patients treated with intraoral and extraoral surgical access did not have significant differences.
