ABSTRACT
The pedagogical question is a powerful tool for cognitive development of students and for the cooperative exchange of ideas. The purposes of the research consisted in analyzing the cognitive level of questions that college students do in the classroom; in the study of meanings about why some students do not ask questions; in the investigation of ways to give the students practice questions, reflection and teaching support to the practice of the question. The qualitative methodology guided this case study. Fifteen students from the National Autonomous University of Mexico participated. Data collection was carried out through non-participant observation through field notes and interviews. It was found that students make few questions and that most of them are made with a closed format. Students felt that there is insufficient support for improving teaching quality of the questions. The relevance of educational questions, we conclude that teachers must support students in developing questions that drive their higher cognitive skills. It is research that will benefit teachers and students.
