In recent years, mindfulness is becoming in a widely studied instrument due to its benefits in physical and psychological health, including the improvement of interpersonal relationships. The aim of this study is to contribute to search strategies that allow improving the education of psychology students, through the development of selfcompetence that benefits their own professional practice. For this purpose, we analyzed the effect of a mindfulness-based intervention on empathy and psychological well-being in psychology students. A cuasi-experimental longitudinal design was used, measuring before and after the intervention. Results show an increasement on cognitive empathy and the psychological well-being of participants in the intervention. Mindfulness seems a viable alternative to improve the psychologists’ education during their university period, particularly to the improvement of a basic ability as empathy is.
