ABSTRACT
Objective: to identify the profile of men who confirmed post vasectomy azoospermia through spermatobioscopy. Method: it was a retrospective transversal and descriptive study. It took place in a public hospital in Mexico City. Review of 107 records of medical patients with vasectomy and spermatobioscopy, during the period of 2007-2014. Results: the profile included several features: rightholders (92 cases) or non-beneficiary patients (15 cases); average of 17.5 years old during the first intercourse; sexual experiences with seven partners on average; wishes of having sex without reproduction with women in childbearing age; average age of 37.9 years; 33.7 years old partners; ten years of couple life; fathers of two children; common use of condoms and vasectomy after rejection of other contraceptive methods; males with mainly technical or professional training; home dedicated partners but also with professional or technical training; men that responsibly adhere to the medical indications: spermatobioscopy after 25 post vasectomy ejaculations and delivery of results at 12 weeks. Everyone achieved azoospermia, 96% in first spermatobioscopy, the rest, afterwards. Conclusions: it is important to insist on the post vasectomy spermatobioscopy. The multidisciplinary participation of urology, nursing, psychology and medical anthropology provided benefits to the patients and to the health sector.
